2008 has been a very been a busy year for me what with continuing to steam ahead with work on Pixaria and doing a relaunch of PopCard - a project which is helping to support continued development of Pixaria Gallery. As I begin to look ahead towards 2009 though, my main focus is on plans for Pixaria Gallery over the next year.
The big event as far as Pixaria Gallery is concerned is the planned release of version 3.0 around July or August. At the present time, I'm continuing to work on initial cleaning up of the 2.0 code base to bring it to the point where I can begin adding new features. The first part of this work, which is now nearly complete, has been on tidying up the user interface and adding support for the Yahoo UI library in the admin area - something which will be important for some of the new features I have planned.
After the cleaning is done, it will be time to begin adding the many features I have planned for version 3.0 most of which are based suggestions submitted by existing users in the forums and by e-mail. As with version 2.0, I don't plan to announce details of all the new features until just before the release date but I will be providing sneak previews as I go and almost certainly asking for feedback on the more complex and advanced new functions.
Alongside all the updates to Pixaria Gallery, 2008 saw the relaunch PopCard, a free script which emulates the functions of the now defunct Apple iCards service. PopCard has been an interesting project for me as the PopCard.me website currently receives almost as many hits per day as Pixaria.com which is definitely helping to drive interest in Pixaria Gallery. I have a few updates in the pipeline for the PopCard website over the next month or two all of which I hope will help to promote Pixaria.
Before I go, I will take a moment to thank everyone who has supported me in my work on Pixaria over the last year. Working on a project like this on your own can sometimes get rather 'intense' so the messages of support I've had over the year are much appreciated! Whatever your plans are for 2009, enjoy yourself and lets hope it's a great year!

The free download is available from the PopCard homepage on this website and full details of the changes can be found in the release notes and file change log.
Permalink del.icio.us Digg itFor anyone still clinging to Internet Explorer, please note that a serious security vulnerability has been discovered which is known to affect all versions of the web browser.
Current advice is to either use an alternative such as Firefox, Safari or Chrome or to apply changes to various settings in Internet Exporer.
